OUR FISHERMEN AND THE RESOURCE ARE OUR PRIORITY
Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers (ABSC) is a non-profit industry trade association representing the majority of independent crab harvesters who commercially fish with pot gear for king, snow (opilio), and bairdi (Tanner) crab in the Bering Sea. Since our formation in 2009, we have fought tirelessly for the responsible harvest of crab and to make a positive difference for the fishing fleets, families, and communities that depend on crab fisheries for their livelihood.
HOW WE ADVOCATE
ABSC brings crab fishermen's input into regulatory and decision-making processes at regional and national levels. We lean on sound science paired with on-the-water experience and fishermen's knowledge to work proactively and collaboratively towards positive outcomes that keep crab sustainable, conserve habitat and ecosystems, and keep fishermen fishing.
BUILDING RESILIENT CRAB FISHERIES
FOR THE FUTURE
ABSC is charting a path forward for the future of our fisheries.
